Feeding the Gulls

Late afternoon, is a favorite time of day for me. The beach has cooled and quieted while the late day sun creates vibrant highlights and casts long dramatic shadows. The stretch of beach, from Ogunquit to the quaint cluster of cottages in Moody, Maine, becomes a playground for seagulls to glide and hover in the currents of the onshore breeze. I chose to paint this image because of the lovely connection between the two figures & the gulls .This connection with nature felt like an especially worthy subject to capture. Dressed for a cool morning walk, beachgoers delight in feeding the gulls.
